Your adventure begins with exploring the Kathmandu Valley, where you will ride picturesque routes through Sankhu, Nagarkot, and Bhaktapur. Each day promises unique landscapes featuring winding mountain roads, serene villages, and breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayas. Overnight at Hotel Shanker, Kathmandu.

08:00 HRS: Ride to Sankhu, Nagarkot & Bhaktapur

After breakfast, meet your Road Captain and Mechanic at the hotel lobby before riding to Sankhu, a historic Newari town 16 km from Kathmandu. Rich in cultural heritage, Sankhu’s gridiron layout resembles a conch shell and is deeply tied to the legend of goddess Bajrayogini. Severely affected by the 2015 earthquake, it is now undergoing restoration.

Continuing to Nagarkot (1.5–2 hours), enjoy breathtaking valley and mountain views along the winding roads. This hilltop town offers panoramic sights of the Himalayas, including five of the world’s ten highest peaks, and is renowned for its spectacular sunrises and sunsets.

Descending 13 km, arrive at Bhaktapur, the "City of Devotees." After lunch, explore its UNESCO-listed Durbar Square, home to the Golden Gate, the Palace of 55 Windows, and the towering five-story Nyatapola Temple. Wander through narrow streets filled with traditional pottery and weaving artisans.

After sightseeing, return to Kathmandu for an overnight stay at Hotel Shanker or similar.

After breakfast, we will navigate through the traffic in Kathmandu and exit the valley via Koteshwor. This leg of our journey covers approximately 155 kilometres and features a mix of road conditions, including paved sections and some rough patches as we move away from the capital. The route will take us through lush hills and rural villages, where we will experience a blend of smooth highways and winding roads while gradually ascending into Sindhuli.

Dinner and overnight at Ganapati Hotel and Resor

After breakfast, we will take an easy ride to Janakpur. This day's journey is relatively short, totalling 75 kilometres and taking about 2.5 hours. The ride will primarily be on smooth roads as we pass through scenic plains and beautiful countryside. Upon reaching Janakpur, we will enjoy sightseeing in the city known for its Hindu temples and as the birthplace of Goddess Sita. The atmosphere in Janakpur is vibrant, filled with colourful markets and significant religious sites.

Dinner and overnight at Mithila Yatri Niwas in Janakpur

After breakfast, we will ride 206 kilometres to Dharan. The route will take us through various terrains, from flat plains to winding roads, offering views of Nepal's lower eastern hills. Road conditions vary, with some stretches in excellent shape and others slightly bumpy. As we approach Dharan, we will pass through small towns and enjoy the serene landscapes, including distant views of the eastern hills.

Dinner and overnight at Hotel Buddha Inn or similar in Dharan

Today, we will only have a two-hour ride, allowing us to spend the morning sightseeing in the beautiful city of Dharan, known as the Gurkhas. Dharan is home to many attractions, including the Budhasubba Temple, a unique site where visitors often bring a pig's head as an offering. Many come to Budhasubba with alcohol, cigarettes, and tobacco, as it is believed that wishes are granted here. The bamboo clump in front of the temple is particularly popular among couples, who say that carving their names into the bamboo bark will grant immortality to their love.

After visiting Budhasubba, we will ride to Bhedetar between Sunsari and Dhankuta districts. At 1,420 meters above sea level, Bhedetar has a cool climate year-round that contrasts with the tropical heat of Dharan in summer. Nearby is Shailung Danda, also known as Charles' Point, named after British Prince Charles's visit in 1981. This hill offers stunning views of verdant hills to the south and snow-capped peaks to the north. Approximately a 25-minute drive from Bhedetar is the famous Namaste Waterfall, a tremendous optional detour.

After sightseeing, we will have lunch and prepare for our ride, which will take about two hours. As we continue, we will enter Dhankuta and go to Hile. Upon entering Hile, you will notice a large pot (tongba) in the centre of the Hile bazaar. We continue for another 22 km or 45 minutes to Basantapur, past the villages of Siduwa and Nunthala. We check in to Yak Hotel and enjoy the rest of the day in Basantapur.

Dinner and overnight at Hotel Yak.

We will start our journey early in the morning to the Pathibara temple. Our ride will cover about 8-10 kilometres on a smooth blacktopped road, followed by an exhilarating 2 kilometres of rugged off-road terrain.

The trail to the temple is a steep 15-minute uphill trek that, on clear days, rewards you with breathtaking views. The majestic Kanchenjunga, the third-highest peak at 7,710 meters, looms to the east alongside the impressive Mount Jannu. Other peaks, like Makalu and the distant Everest, which appeared surprisingly small, added to the stunning panorama.

The entire journey, from start to finish, takes nearly two hours. We ride back to the hotel for breakfast.

We will return to Hile, 22 km away, and then turn onto the road towards Bhojpur. The journey covers 112 km and takes us 3.5 hours. We enjoy the beautiful landscape and occasionally glimpse the Makalu and Chamlang mountain peaks.

Bhojpur Bazaar is a small district capital of the same name. It is famous for its Khukhuris (Gurkha knives).
Overnight in a basic small town lodge. KFC Lodge.

We proceed towards Diktel, 1540 meters, on a scenic 90-minute ride through lovely terraced farms, orange orchards, and forests along undulating and windy roads. The ride takes about 3 hours. There is an adventurous stretch of 10 km of off-road riding.

We climb a small pass at 2,140 meters. The 75-minute ride, which features undulating terrain, rewards us with stunning views of peaks such as Numbur, Mera, and others reaching over 6,000 meters. Our stop at Halesi is a pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. We visit the temple and pilgrimage sites before a short ride to our resort for the night.

Holesung Resort. 1400 meters

We start on the winding road towards Hile Pani, 35 km away. A section of about 5 to 6 kilometres has been washed away. This stretch is busier than in previous days, as Halesi is a popular pilgrimage destination, especially during winter.

We embarked on a three-and-a-half-hour ride from Hile Pani along a predominantly ascending road for 61 km. This journey takes us through several villages and the town of Okhaldhunga until we finally reach Patale at an elevation of 2,940 meters. On clear afternoons, we can be rewarded with breathtaking views of the mountain ranges, including Mount Everest.

We will stay at Nice View Hotel, a lovely lodge run by the Sherpa family. Some rooms offer views of the mountains. The lodge has a cosy dining hall with a wood stove that keeps it warm until bedtime.

Pattale is a settlement in the Solu Dudhkunda Municipality, located at the border of Okhaldhunga and Solukhumbu. It is 2940 meters above sea level. In April, the surrounding hills are vibrant with blooming rhododendron flowers, while in winter, they are covered in snow.

Dinner and overnight at Nice View Hotel or Himali Homestay.

We will hike up to the hilltop in the morning, eager for the spectacular views. The trek to the viewpoint, located past the cell phone towers, took about 30 to 40 minutes. Upon reaching the view shelter, you will be mesmerised by the majestic panorama.
Experience the breathtaking grandeur of towering peaks that rise majestically into the sky, including those reaching heights of 6000 meters and 7000 meters and a select few that soar past 8000 meters. Join us on this unforgettable tour, where you can witness these magnificent giants in person and discover what can be seen from our unique vantage point.

After a hearty breakfast, we begin our steep descent of 1,100 meters towards Okhaldhunga, catching glimpses of the majestic Himalayan peaks. We ride for about 45 minutes to reach a petrol pump for refuelling. We continue downhill with a few ascents, travelling 58 kilometres to Harkapur, alongside the picturesque Sunkoshi River, in about 90 minutes.

We follow the river upstream, riding between 300 and 500 meters in altitude for another 90 minutes. Parts of the road are washed out or damaged, adding a bit of challenge over 2 to 3 kilometres, but the remaining 42 kilometres to Khurkot can take about 90 minutes.

After a refreshing lunch, we set off for a 40-minute ride to our destination, Manthali, where we settled in for the night at the cosy Freedom Resort.

We leave Manthali and follow the Tamakoshi River to Tamakoshi Bazaar, 37 kilometres away. The ascent, from 500 to 1,810 meters, offers stunning views of Mount Gauri Shankar and the Numbur and Chamlang ranges.

Lunch at the rooftop of Ambrosia Hotel offers panoramic views of the Himalayas. Afterwards, we will ride 22 kilometres to Lakuridanda in Kharidhunga at 2,750 meters to enjoy breathtaking vistas. You'll have to experience it to discover which peaks are visible in this incredible panorama.
The grounds at the back offer a perfect spot to enjoy magnificent sunrises and sunsets over the majestic mountains.

On the final leg of our journey, we will ride back to Kathmandu, covering 100 kilometres in approximately four hours. The route combines smooth highways with winding uphill sections as we descend into the Kathmandu Valley. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will have the opportunity to reflect on the remarkable adventure and diverse landscapes you have experienced over the past few days.
