Kondge Ridge Trek
The Everest region has been a popular destination for trekkers and climbers for many years, offering awe-inspiring landscapes, rich Sherpa culture, and the opportunity to witness some of the world’s highest peaks up close. In recent years, trekking options in the region have evolved to include more comfortable accommodations and amenities.
Traditionally, trekkers in the Everest region would stay at basic tea houses or camp along the trekking routes. However, the advent of luxury lodges in the area has provided an alternative for those seeking a more comfortable and convenient trekking experience. The Yeti Mountain Home luxury lodges are prime examples of this trend.
These luxury lodges offer spacious and tastefully decorated rooms with comfortable twin beds. The rooms have attached bathrooms with running hot and cold water, ensuring a pleasant and refreshing experience after a day of trekking. The lodges are strategically positioned to provide magnificent panoramic views of the Himalayas, allowing guests to soak in the region’s breathtaking beauty.
During the nine-day trek in the Sherpa homeland, you can explore Namche Bazaar, a vibrant settlement known as the gateway to the Everest region. The tour includes a visit to Thame, where you can hike to Sumdur Ridge, reaching an elevation of 4,830 meters. From this vantage point, you will be treated to unforgettable views of prominent peaks, including the majestic Cho Oyu.
The return journey from Thame to Lukla follows a new trail traversing rhododendron-covered slopes on the valley’s west side, offering a scenic and serene experience. As you reach Kongde, you will be greeted with Everest’s unique panorama, featuring the iconic peaks of Lhotse and Ama Dablam. If time permits, a day hike to the excellent viewpoint of Pharak Ri from Kongde is also an option.
With the availability of luxury lodges in the Everest region, you can now enjoy the comforts of heated rooms, en-suite bathrooms, and pleasant dining areas while experiencing the breathtaking beauty and adventure of the Everest ‘Luxury’ Trek.
Note: Flight to Lukla and back can be delayed or cancelled due to poor visibility. We ask you to have buffer days of a few days in case your flight to Lukla is affected.
Note: You can pre-book a seat on a direct helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and return for an additional US$500 per person each way. You will avoid the 4-5 hours drive to or from Manthali. For example – if you decide to book a helicopter seat for both ways – US$1000 extra needs to be added.
