Prepare yourself for a day filled with exploration, cultural immersion, and valuable insights as we delve into the wonders of Kathmandu.

We leave for Pokhara early this morning in a private vehicle. The drive to Pokhara can be delayed by traffic leaving Kathmandu. Once we are out of Kathmandu, the trip usually takes around 6 hours, depending on the road and traffic conditions. In the afternoon, your trek leader will take you for a familiarisation walk along the shore of Phewa Lake. Pokhara is a pretty lakeside resort at the foot of the Annapurna range.

After a short drive, we will reach the starting point of our trek. Our trail takes us along a scenic ridgeline in the middle hills of the Annapurna range. As we traverse this path, we will be treated to breathtaking views of terraced fields and forests.

Descending further, we will arrive at the Modi River Valley, where the Sanctuary Lodge awaits us. This charming lodge will be our accommodation for this segment of the trek. Here, amidst the tranquil surroundings, we will have the opportunity to catch sight of the sacred Machapuchare, commonly known as Fishtail Mountain. This mountain holds great significance and remains unclimbed due to its sacred status.

On clear days, the Sanctuary Lodge provides a remarkable vantage point to admire the majestic beauty of the holy Fishtail Mountain. The stunning views will undoubtedly leave you in awe as you immerse yourself in the region’s natural splendour.
Prepare yourself for a day filled with picturesque landscapes, serene surroundings, and the mystical presence of the unclimbed Machapuchare.

Commence the day after breakfast, setting out from the lodge and trekking through scattered farms. Following the Modi River upstream, revel in uninterrupted vistas of the majestic Machapuchare. Embark on an ascent up stone steps, traversing a blend of farmland and lush forests. Pause intermittently to hydrate, capture scenic photographs, and immerse yourself in the natural beauty.

Upon reaching the Himalaya Lodge in Ghandruk, a late lunch awaits, accompanied by awe-inspiring panoramas of the Annapurna massif.

As we continue our trek, the picturesque village of Landruk on the other side of the Modi Valley will come into view. We will undertake a steep descent to reach the valley floor, taking in the breathtaking scenery. The region is also known for its cliff bees, whose hives might be visible during our descent. It’s worth noting that the honey these bees produce is reputed to have hallucinogenic properties if consumed in large quantities. Ingesting as little as three teaspoons could produce these effects.

Once we cross a suspension bridge, we will embark on an ascent that lasts approximately one hour until we reach our designated stop for the day, Landruk. During this ascent, you can enjoy impressive views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli, which will undoubtedly inspire you to keep walking.

Upon arrival at our lodge, a delicious lunch will be awaiting us. After satisfying our appetites, you can rest and relax or join your trek leader for a leisurely walk around the charming village of Landruk. As we approach Pothana, we will be greeted with an open area where Tibetan traders often display their unique gifts and souvenirs. This is a perfect opportunity to engage with the traders and find a special memento to commemorate your journey. It adds an exciting cultural element to the trek as you witness the intermingling of traditions and the exchange of goods between traders and trekkers.

As we continue, we will reach Dhampus, a village known for its panoramic views. The breathtaking Dhampus vista will leave a lasting impression in your memory. The scenic beauty of the surrounding mountains and landscapes will captivate your senses, offering a unique and awe-inspiring experience.

Take in the remarkable panorama, immerse yourself in the cultural interactions at Pothana, and cherish the memories created amidst the region’s natural wonders.

After enjoying a satisfying breakfast, we will embark on our journey for the day. We will begin by following a scenic ridge, providing us with panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Additionally, you can hire a bike and take a leisurely cycling tour along the lakeshore, immersing yourself in the area’s natural beauty.

For those seeking relaxation, you can unwind by the hotel pool or stroll along the lakeside, exploring the shops and indulging in local crafts and souvenirs. Your trek leader will provide further details and guidance regarding the available options, ensuring you make the most of your free afternoon in Pokhara.

No matter how you spend your time, Pokhara offers many activities and experiences to suit diverse preferences, ensuring a memorable end to our journey.
